This symposium focuses on reduction, refinement, and replacement methods to improve laboratory animal welfare while maintaining or improving scientific results.

The ASPIS Open Symposium is an annual meeting of the members of the ASPIS cluster formed by the three Horizon 2020 consortia: ONTOX, PrecisionTox, and RISK-HUNT3R, and the wider scientific community focusing on advancing the safety assessment of chemicals without the use of animal testing.

The meeting will be entirely in-person.

This webinar aims to support attendees to more effectively search for information related to the animal models they use and keep up to date with advances in the 3Rs. The topics are relevant for anyone who needs to stay well informed on the latest 3Rs approaches, tools and technologies, including researchers, 3Rs Champions, AWERB members and named persons. 

This webinar will launch CRACK IT Challenge 48: the Wings of Change, which aims to develop new approach methodologies (NAMs) to assess acute and chronic avian toxicity for chemical screening and environmental risk assessment. The webinar is open to potential applicants eligible to apply for CRACK IT Challenge funding and will provide an opportunity to learn more about the competition, ask the Sponsors questions and find out how to submit a competitive application.

The 2024 Conference agenda will include topics on:

• New Approach Technologies (NAMs)
• Inhaled biologics/proteins
• Inhalation gene expression and cell therapeutics/biomarkers
• Intranasal dosing
• Aerosol generation in-vivo/in-vitro/novel methods and aerosol sampling
• Wildfire and smoke inhalation toxicology

There will also be ample time for networking, meeting with the exhibitors, and manned poster sessions for Q&A with the authors.

This AOP-Wiki Virtual Training will provide:

• a presentation overview of the AOP-Wiki’s purpose and scope;
• a demonstration of the Wiki’s interface and navigation; 
• Opportunities for participatory learning and engagement, including a question-and-answer session and a breakout session with an interactive activity.

This Symposium will explore "Reduction and Refinement challenges in 3Rs research". On a daily basis, researchers face various challenges in animal experimentation: surplus animals, pain scoring, misconceptions and questions regarding the use of both sexes in animal research.
